Peace
My sweet love, the peace you've brought
is worth more than gold, a lifetime sought
To me this peace is so precious and dear
because I was without it all those years
My long time alone; a time apart
from everything close to my heart
It seems before you came I'd forgotten myself
how to live, how to laugh, at life itself
My dreams I'd left in a pile of stone
exchanged instead for hours alone
Sadness became my friend dear love
until you were sent from Heaven above
Now my heart is full of life unceasing
because now and forever it is in your keeping
You care for it as you care for me
tightly, warmly, ever-lovingly
Now you my love are my best friend,
my husband, my lover, until the end
Our laughter our love, it's strength it bears
All of this world's threatening cares
This peace you give to my life and me
allows the happiness you see
To keep my heart and soul together
knowing we will stand strong forever
You're always here and always love
personified, a gift, from God above
No matter the day, or the newest fear
you sooth my heart and wipe my tears
I never dread, I never cower
wondering how you will use this power
You use your love for me to heal
never to hurt or my trust to steal
You give instead, your strength, your life
to make our home of peace not strife
Your easy smile, your gentle touch
in ease or stress they mean so much
Each day I know that I have you
with me to see the hard things though
Never alone in fear do I stand
we stand together hand in hand
Your gentle words for me bring calm
like salve to a wound, a healing balm
I look to you because you care
always forever lovingly here
Not because you had to or even must
but because you know in you I trust
To love to laugh to always be

About this poem~
This is an original poem © Tammy Gorman. It was written for my sweetheart Jeff in 2002. I'm still stuck on him. ~ggg~ Before I met him I never fully understood how love could make all the difference in every way in every aspect of life. I do believe that the only true love comes from God. I am forever thankful He brought us together. It is my greatest hope that everyone has love in their life. My second greatest hope is that if you don't, you pray that love finds you. I did, and so did Jeff. And here we are. :)
