Rain, An Original Poem

Rain

written by Tammy G.

October 18th 2006

Look here the sky is grey
Rainbows and wishes gone astray
Hope's sinking fast
Dreams just won't last
Soaked and dripping and wet
The rain could win this bet
Hope in it's prime
Once upon a time
Would have won hands down
But today just might drown
And dreams..poor tired dreams
Fighting so long upstreams
Both of them walking uphill
Just might not have the will
To beat back the rain
And try again
Unless the sun comes out
And helps a fellow out
To chase away the storms
Shine up dreams faded and worn
Paint hope back in the sky
Dry the tears in it's eye
Soon as the sun shines bright
And starts winning this fight
So rain rain go away
Come again some other day
You're screwing up
My sunny day
The one where wishes
And rainbows play
Where dreams come true
And the sky is blue
True love shines bright
And wins the fight
All life's colors paint the sky
Hopes and dreams never die

~Notes~

Dreams are what life is about. You travel toward them, sometimes in a straight line, sometimes finding a side path that suits you better. From beginning to end. That's pretty much it. Wanting something so bad and realizing sometimes in time... and sometimes too late, who you really are and what really matters to you. Some dreams you'll achieve. Some you won't. It's not getting what you want, but wanting what you get that counts. (Stealing from Soak up the Sun by Sheryl Crow here... :) ) Whether you achieve them or not doesn't matter in the final analysis. It's the journey to find your true dream that counts. And finding peace in the process.
