An Original Poem- Sunset
Sunset
As the sun sets the sky
It paints a glow in my eye
Day's last leaving light
All pinks and purples bright
The sun sets on Heaven's canvas
God of nature's power in our glances
Sometimes in my heart I fear
I hold the end of day most dear
As the rhythm of life slows
And the power of night's quiet grows
Weary hearts and souls conceive of
Peace and rest sorely in need of
On this dark prismatic backdrop
Night falls and we can all stop
The rat-race that we run
In the heat of the sun
And calmness comes again
And hope replaces dire sin
A new day tomorrow will come
And another new blazing sun
As sunrise paints the heavens
And hope and faith beckons
God makes sunrises and sunsets
In case we might sometimes forget
All real power comes from on high
God's glory emblazoned in the sky
About this poem
Written in fond remembrance of long ago sunrises and sunsets I delighted in during my childhood in SE Michigan. Their extravagant beauty reigns over any I have seen since. This is an original poem ©Tammy Gorman. It was written January 17th, 2007.
